Five Forwards: Rangers/Kings Postgame Analysis (VIDEO)

February 3, 2010

What was John Tortorella thinking when he put five forwards on the ice during a powerplay? I’m sure he wasn’t thinking about a short handed goal. What a dopey move Tort! You can’t put Chris Drury and Olli Jokinen on the point durin g a power play…especially when Jokinen just flew in that day from Calgary…is not in in sync with the powerplay unit…and did I forget to mention that Chris Drury was playing point across from Jokinen? Nope. I didn’t forget. That was a bonehead move Tort…that’s on you.

Enough of that. The new Rangers Olli Jokinen and Brandon Prust played well last night. I was impressed by how aggressive Brandon Prust was racking up 19 minutes in penalty minutes and engaging in a great fight with Brandon Segal (Video Below). Good for you Prust…you earned your Rangers Stripes! As for Jokinen…minus two on the night…but he provided great speed and a strong physical force on the ice. Things Ales KotalEEEK and Christopher Higgins could never supply.

Henrik Lundqvist looked good last night and Marian Gaborik has scored in three consecutive games. The Rangers have a tough game against the Capitals on Thursday…but I think they will win…and I’ll go out on a limb and will predict that Henrik blanks the Caps. 2-0.

(On a side note…Wade Redden got an assist last night! Wow! Good for you…that cost the Rangers about one million dollars. Sweet.)
